Democracy

From 13 to 17 October 2025, DE/MO partnered with Fine Acts to continue ECHO with the Campaign Design Sprint in Sofia,
where 16 participants explored the future of our democracy.

What role do ordinary citizens play in holding their leaders accountable and upholding democratic values?
And how can we address widespread disillusionment to strengthen democracy?

    The Campaign Design Sprint

In 168 hours, 16 participants came together to ignite a new flame for one of our most pressing topics: democracy.

We had the pleasure to receive guest speakers from different fields and disciplines:
Louisa Slavkova brought insights into the current state of democracy how building trust can strengthen our efforts.
Explaining the process behind their curation of ‘The Neighbours’ at the Bulgarian Pavilion of the 60th Venice Art Biennale,
    Vasil Vladimirov
and Krasimira Butseva show how a socially engaged practice nurtures history and honors trauma and memory.
Founders of The Documentalists Foundation, Aleksandar Nikolov and Dimitar Panayotov, shone new light on creative formats for
storytelling, and  how pure human emotions can be captured in multimedia formats.
In a hands-on workshop, Angel Iskrev shared his best practices from the world of advertising and marketing to kickstart
    the teams’ productions of campaigns.

Between all of the inspiration and input from guest speakers, the participants were guided through a brainstorming and ideation process to arrive at their first campaign concepts. The week thus concluded with the teams testing their campaign concepts at a feedback session organized at Resonator on Friday - valuable insights which the teams used in further developing their campaigns after the Campaign Design Sprint Week.
